On the surface, Moral Killer is a fictional story, my imagination replacing my human existence as a criminal, a murderer, an unforgivable villain, someone who isn’t a good person. But deeper, the song questions what makes a person good or bad, and how can actions label an individual as moral or immoral as the whole argument of morality is subjective. Society labels individuals. Moral Killer is just me expressing my confusion as an adolescent about what is right or wrong, specifically as the person in the song, being a different version of myself, begins to express empathy, regret, and suffering from their own actions. Does this change an immoral action into a moral one?
lyrics
No I wont cry,
I can’t I ain’t a good guy
I did a bad thing
Baby please just turn a blind eye
If you don’t know,
I'll help you visualise
I tied you up
Carved my name into your thighs
(Oh-) Waiting for you to moralise
(Oh-) Life is what I fictionalise
(Oh-) Guess I could have kept you alive (Oh-) Sorry I killed you, I had to decide
I’m a moral killer
I’m a moral killer baby I’m a moral killer
I’m a moral killer
Is it healthy that I don’t sleep Instead, I lie awake
Think of the thing that I’ve done I’ve killed someone
I haven’t won
You were somebody’s son
(Baby, baby, baby, run away baby) (Oh-) Waiting for you to moralise
(Oh-) Life is what I fictionalise
(Oh-) Guess I could have kept you alive (Oh-) Sorry I killed you, I had to decide
I’m a moral killer
I’m a moral killer baby I’m a moral killer
I’m a moral killer x2
I’m a moral killer (long) x2
